This will become more clear, I hope, in the follow-up post. In the meantime, I honestly think you are reading something into what I have said here that is very different from what I have actually said.Apuleius Platonicushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11761230673724504084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817911217098974229.post-47377586852631408492010-10-24T18:25:53.316-04:002010-10-24T18:25:53.316-04:00Apuleus Platonicus,
you seem to have let your oppo...Apuleus Platonicus,
you seem to have let your opponents draw you into a quagmire of false presupposition. You're arguing questions like have you lost your horns, have you stopped beating your wife, will you eat another baby for breakfast. Religion and religious organization are not the same thing. Organized atheism is a perfect illustration of the point. Whatever argument strategy you choose, whether it's a but we had a secret succession or a you don't have a legitimate succession either is wrong simply because you implicitly accept our opponents' false presupposition.

If they think our beliefs are not the same as those of e.g. Platonists or Pythagoreans, let's quote our sources and they will quote theirs, this kind of discussion will certainly be beneficial. But playing the my succession is bigger than yours takes us nowhere; if succession is important in one cult it doesn't mean it is acceptable in all others. After all if you were not born a natural polytheist you wouldn't have to be baptized, circumcised or say the shahada. It is the Abrahamic guys who have to prove that their views are not against the natural human condition. And pagans should be judged according to pagan standards, e.g. those that existed in the Roman empire. I already wrote about it in a different discussion on this blog.

Perhaps I have been too aggressive in my comments on this blog. Please, don't take it too close to heart. You are an excellent polytheist theologian unmatched by anyone writing on these topics on the Net.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09637071118811437466noreply@blogger.com
