A look into America's not too distant future
Coming soon to a "Sharia compliant" society near you!
Six British citizens were arrested by their government today. What was their crime? They burned a copy of the Koran, videotaped it, and then uploaded the videotape to youtube.
I was going to say something like: "hey, no, really -- I'm serious. THIS REALLY HAPPENED!" But you know what? It's not really all that fucking surprising to anyone anymore. Think about that!
Hat tip, once again, to the Islam in Europe blog. Go there to read more, if you have the stomach for it. The story has also been picked up by the Telegraph, the BBC, the Guardian, etc.

Well that is really scary. I believe post modern thought control is taking over the world. What on earth is the matter with the west? Oh I know we must tolerate the intolerable so that we can prove how tolerable we are and all be martyrs to toleration because you know we are better than them. Isn't that a liberal talking point? I am fast becoming a conservative.
>Isn't that a liberal talking point?
Excellent wording. The politicians forgot that it is not they, who should tell the people what to do, but vice versa. Not people serving the government, but government serving the people.
In fact, the whole idea of tolerance is completely wrong. What I think is more appropriate is friendliness. Tolerance is unilateral, while friendliness is mutual. Childish, isn't it? :)
Friendliness is a good virtue which does not imply prejudgment of someone, basically Denis I would agree with you. However, when a religion advocates deception in order to gain power over, I don't think I want to be friendly with them. Suspicion is more what I feel and I feel that with Christians too. After all they are instructed to spread the good word. I grew up in a liberal Christian church and my conclusion is scratch a liberal get a Fundy. They cannot handle questions. This goes for Wiccans too when they jabber about tolerance and want status. I am not a rag picker for status.
