The new indie flick from Finland, "Iron Sky", is almost certainly destined for "Cult Film" status. Set in the just barely future year of 2018, the premise is that a group of Nazis managed to escape the advancing allied armies as the Third Reich came tumbling down at the end of WWII. Naturally, they escaped in flying saucers and they headed straight for the dark side of the Moon. And now, seventy years later, the Moon Nazis are ready to try once more to conquer the earth. The reviews that I have seen have not been very positive, for the most part, but I don't think this is a movie that was made to please critics. Here are two of the more positive reviews:
- Iron Sky revels in its B-movie status By Mark Adams, chief film critic, ScreenDaily.Com
- SXSW 2012: IRON SKY Review by Matt Goldberg, for Collider.Com
Berlin Film Festival Review: ‘Iron Sky’ is a Blitzkrieg of Boring Bad Movie Review By Cole Abaius, for FilmSchoolRejects.Com- Iron Sky: Berlin Film Review by David Rooney, for HollywoodReporter.Com
It looks like it will be a lot of fun to watch when it finally comes to theatres in the US and/or comes out on DVD!
