If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe
that it's all true
knowing that you lied straight faced
while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
Someone like you makes it hard to live without
Somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
Never think about myself
If the above link to the Carpenters singing "Reason to Believe" doesnt work try: this
Here's a Rod Stewart impersonator:
Then here's a guy named Malvasio doing it right:
Glen Campbell actually does a decent job:
Jerry Vale's version is not quite weird enough for my tastes:

That last one is by Kira Hil pictured to the right. I had never heard of her before I started checking out different versions of "Reason to Believe" - what a voice!
The song was originally written by Tim Hardin in 1965.

GREAT blog! Great themes. I love the integration of wicca/buddhism/philosophy/etc. Very cool. When I get to it I'd love to do more research into relationships between earth/nature godesses/gods and early Buddhism. Very exciting area. A lot of Buddhism we get sold in the west is very dry, very rationalised. I doubt it was ever so dry as it is now, sadly.
Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I very much agree that the Buddhism of the West is often dry and overly rational. This is not the way Buddhism has ever been in Asia, including today.
Check out Miranda Shaw's "Buddhist Goddesses of India" which I wrote briefly about in a previous post:
