Of Smurfs and Crypto-Fascism

In 2011 French sociologist Antoine Buéno published Le Petit livre bleu, essai sur les schtroumpfs, in which he put forward the thesis that the Smurfs are actually an insidious exercise in crypto-fascist propaganda filled with racist, antisemitic and totalitarian secret messages. Srsly.

Personally I think that this helps to put into perspective the paranoid fascist-baiting ravings of Amy Hale and Jason Pitzl-Waters.

And, no, I am not making this shit up.

Opening the cracked.com link, I noticed an image of Donald Duck wearing a laurel crown and with a pentagram drawn on his hand. This is from an old Disney cartoon about math called "Donald in Mathmagical Land" that depicited the Pythagoreans, who supposedly recognized each other by the figure of the pentagram. The cartoon can be found in youtube. Some people put the pentagram sequence there as a proof that Disney was a Satanist/Illuminati...

In my opinion, Walt was One Of Us.

Really? Why do you think that? The Greek gods in Fantasia?

It's not something that I have looked into seriously. It's just a feelikng. But the guy did dedicate his whole life to encouraging children (and adults) to cultivate "magical thinking", and he did so in an extremely effective way.

This just goes to feed my ongoing hypothesis that if someone thinks about ANYTHING for long enough and deeply enough, they can connect it to an unseen worldwide conspiracy.

Of course, the world might be stranger than I give it credit for.

But is Hollywood in on it?

That interview wasn't even that long. What ideas did you take issue with? Crypto-fascism as a thing that exists?
