"Tear Down That Firewall"

Megan Fluker's piece today over at the Huffington Post has some serious errors in it, but it has one of the best titles ever: "Tear Down That Firewall".

The worst error is that she doesn't seem to know that google almost immediately backed down from it's "bold move" to stop censoring google.cn. That means that every time she mentions "Chinese" censorship, she should really be talking about google's own censorship!

Fluker also repeatedly insists that freedom of speech is something that "we" value as "a nation". Really? Then why the fuck is google censoring its own search engine?!?!? "We" are a CAPITALIST "nation", and apparently profit takes precedence over the first amendment. And that is just exactly how it has always been, boys and girls.

You see, there is a reason why it is called the first AMENDMENT. The hallowed "framers" of the Constitution left out ALL of the basic individual rights that "we" as a "nation" supposedly cherish. To their credit, the American people gave out a collective cry of WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT!?!?!?!? when they read through the proposed Constitution, and they demanded that the rights that they had fought for against King George be included. And, thus, the Bill of Rights was born.

In case this is news to anyone, get thee to a bookstore and buy and read Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States, or just read it online here. See especially his Chapter Five: A Kind of Revolution, where Zinn talks at length about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
